Santa Maria Pear
Origin:
Hybrid between William and
Coscia varieties, marketed since 1951; it is the earliest of our
medium-long life varieties.
Features:
Medium-sized elongated
fruits, green-yellow skin, pink on exposed side, white medium-thin
flesh, pleasant taste considering precocity.
On the table:
Mainly eaten in summer, it
is most appreciated by the Northern and Central European markets.
Collection:
End of July to mid-August.
Conservation:
Refrigerating rooms, until
December.
